The water district is managed by the General Manager, under the policy-making guidance of the Board of Directors.
The district is separated into three divisions: Administrative & General Services, Financial & Commercial Services, and Engineering & Construction. MWD currently follows an Operations Manual in lieu of ISO Certification due to it being only a Category C water district.
